Make the holidays special for Veterans

Make the holidays brighter for a Veteran!

Operation Grateful Giving is a project of Healing Warrior Hearts and the Starfish Foundation. Every December, we stuff 500 gift bags for patients and residents at the Zablocki VA Medical Center, residents at Vets Place Central, Boudicca House, R&R House and other locations. 2024 is year 12, bringing Christmas cheer to the veterans who aren’t going home for Christmas!

Over 100 volunteers will gather on Christmas eve morning to deliver the bags and visit with the veterans at various locations.

We gather donations of items for the bags such as small hand-held games or other small gift items, paper (notepads), pens, bandanas, hard candy (regular and sugar free), other small bags of candies. Not all bags will be the same, so each kind of item donated doesn't have to be in quantity of 500. Cookies or other snack treats must be store bought and in their packages. American Legion Unit 18 Auxiliary has been making cards and ornaments for the bags.

Financial contributions toward purchase of items would also be appreciated.

With great gratitude for the service of our military veterans and those who support them in their healing,
